I know I must let go, because in the depth of my being, it’s a dead-end road bound to cause sorrow. I know I must let go, because I need to move on, and looking back perpetuates the unfolding. I know I must let go, for my own good, and I know I must let go, to move on, from the destructive hindrance, of holding on. Danny G.
I Forgive You Because (Poem)
I forgive you because,Â
Holding on to hurts of the pastÂ
Is being shackled to the ground
With no escapeÂ
But the sound of your voice belittling,
With your sarcastic remarks.
I forgive you because,
If I don’t,
I will sleep walk my whole life,
Never getting anywhereÂ
But listening to your voice
Condescending and obstructive.Â
I forgive you because,Â
The one who holds on,Â
Never embraces the worldÂ
For all its beauty but imperfections
To discover ourselves anew.
I forgive you because,
It’s the only way to correlate,Â
And accept the worldÂ
Despite its imperfections Â
And treachery.
I forgive you because,
It’s for my own good,
And I forgive you,Â
To move on,Â
From the sabotaging pain,
Of holding on.
